Birth / Death Certificates
Birth Certificates
Louisiana Birth certificates may be printed in our office by accessing the Louisiana Vital Records Registry.
Our office has access to birth certificates one hundred years old or newer. If you wish to obtain a birth certificate older than one hundred years, you must contact the Louisiana Secretary of State Archives, P O Box 94125, Baton Rouge, LA 70804 or search their website.
We cannot issue birth certificates from other States.
If you were born before 1983, wait time for the State to upload your certificate for printing will be between 15 minutes and 1 hour. More recent certificates will be available within 15 minutes. Certificates for newborns are generally not available until the child is 4-5 months of age.
There are strict identification requirements to obtain a birth certificate. The requestor must present a current Louisiana driver’s license or a State issued photo identification card. You may obtain a birth certificate only for yourself, your children, your siblings, your parents, your grandparents, or a child you have with legal guardianship (documentation required).
To obtain a certified copy of a birth certificate in our office, the fee is $34. Birth cards are available for $14 and must be purchased with a birth certificate for a total of $48.
If our office is unable to find the name in the Vital Records database, fees will not be refunded. Accuracy of the spelling of all names is vital to finding the correct record.
